Breakthrough Pinpointe™ Footlaser™ Treatment For Toenail Fungus Now Available In United Kingdom

PinPointe™ FootLaser™ has just announced that it has certified six podiatrists in the United Kingdom to administer its revolutionary new laser treatment for toenail fungus. The certified podiatrists are: the London Nail Laser Clinic (Martine and Michael Abrahams); Beauchamp Foot and Nail Laser Clinic in London (Fiona Patterson, Victoria Wilson, and Erika Williams); and Mr. Hamish Dow of The Dow Clinic in Newcastle upon Tyne. This breakthrough treatment was introduced in the UK after receiving CE Mark approval, certifying that it has met EU consumer and health safety standards and can be offered by certified podiatrists throughout Europe.

PinPointe FootLaser uses a patented laser technology to treat toenail fungus (Onychomycosis), an infection that afflicts an estimated 900 million people around the world.

Toenail fungus has many unsavoury affects upon the nail; it is known to destroy, discolour, weaken, crack and abnormally thicken toenails. Anything that causes damage to the nail plate can create the opportunity for the fungal infection to gain entry into the nail and begin its unsightly and often uncomfortable effects. Physical activities such as running and athletics in poorly fitting footwear and accidental trauma are prime examples of this.

Serious medical conditions like diabetes and poor circulation can create the potential for worsening conditions, possibly secondary bacterial infections. The fungus can develop when the foot is contained in a warm damp shoe for too long. Common use of wet towels, poor personal foot hygiene, walking on contaminated floor surfaces and the use of badly sterilized nail cutting equipment are other ways the feet can be exposed to the fungus. It is estimated that 5-10 percent of adults and almost half of those aged 70 and older suffer from fungal nails.

With PinPointe FootLaser, patients are treated quickly and effectively with no oral or systemic drugs and no anesthesia. PinPointe's laser light passes through the toenail and surrounding skin without causing damage to either structure. The procedure allows the new nail to grow in healthy and clear. Unlike competing medication-driven treatments for toenail fungus, PinPointe FootLaser presents minimal risk of side effects. PinPointe FootLaser's first clinical study demonstrated better than 87% of the patients studied had significant clear nail growth after just one in-office treatment.

By offering a simple, non-invasive solution for patients suffering from toenail fungus, PinPointe FootLaser offers licensed healthcare providers an excellent opportunity for building their practices and providing a valuable new service to their patients. PinPointe FootLaser is an emerging leader in the medical technology industry.
